Best Time to check engine oil
#1
When is the correct time to check engine oil. As when i check in the morning when the car has been standstill over night, the level is between the to markers for min and max. If I check it when the car has been driven and then let to cool down its over the max marker? Cheers.

First thing in the morning after it has stood. Usually best to keep the oil level between min and max, helps to stop the boost solenoid from getting clogged.

so if in the morning the level says its between both markers, I should go with this rather than when its been warmed and had a chance for it to filter down with the level being over max? Coz i am thinking about taking some out if its been overfilled.
Thanks for replys.

Yep, go with the morning figure. The reason you get a higher reading when the engine is warm is due to the oil expanding with the heat, it can also lign the inside of the dip stick tube and give a false reading.

Correct procedure, warm the engine until it reaches working temp, park the car in a flat road turn it off and wait for at least 20 mins in order to drain all the oil back (as it's hoter now) and take your measurement (especially if you own a WRX03 that gives wrong values sometimes)!
