Unhappy

as the title says...it only seems to happen after driving say on the m-way at about 90-100,then when i slow down to 80 or less i get quite a bad wobble on the steering wheel that lasts for about 30-40 seconds then it stops, but as soon as i do it again it happens again.
ive just had 2 new tyres on the front and they've both been balanced, and it still does itany help will be much appriciated.

cheers

Have you had your brake pads changed recently? i don't know if this is related but i had my brake pads changed and after a week started to get exactly the same kinda woble your getting and now it all gone... i think it may have been the break pads bedding in as it only hapened under breaking..

take the wheels off, and put the back on 1 hole further round

then tighten the nuts with the wheel off the ground, tighten one nut then do the one opposite and work your way round, i torque tighten the wheels to 100Nm

otherwise i would suggest something out of round on incorrectly balanced or even loose, check all the track rod ends etc

Wink

shot in the dark but on my old mr2 had this problem, the slides on the callipers started 2 seize and didnt retract that small amount after u let off the brake ,so sometimes would get wobble becuase the pads were in contact with my slightly warped disks, would fade away aftert a while......but tbh sounds like unbalances tyres.

Bartman, swop the front wheels for the backs and then try driving again, if it still does it get all 4 wheels balanced and have the correct tyre pressures put in, this may help !

If it just wobbles at certain speeds, then it's almost certainly a wheel balance problem. There is the odd occasion when it's a bent rim or push rods or something more serious, but it's always been poor balance on my car.

The problem is cr@p machines or dumbass mechanics not balancing them properly. It's taken me a few garages to get it sorted properly in the past

As the lads have already mentioned, I'd swap them with the back wheels too see if it goes away (or at least moves to another speed).

Thumbs up

cheers everyone, took the front wheels off to swop em over arron, and i noticed the 2 front wheels have got differant size weights on,ones 15g and the others 25g,me thinks this could be the problem ay?

The wheels are balanced individually, so it's quite feasible to have different size weights on each wheel.

You're still better swapping them with the two rears or you could just bite the bullet and get the fronts re-balanced.
