Does it stall sometimes? If so it could be a dodgy MAF sensor , try a search on here as I'm sure I've read about this before.....Greasemonkey ???, over to you

my uk turbo kicks over at around 800 revs when fully warmed up if this helps. can be as high as 1.2k revs if it is really cold.

Wink

LOL why is when someone mentions a possible fault someone pops up saying its the MAF??

A vacuum leak could easily be the fault.

Nothing seems odd about what you've said, unless the engine seems to nearly stall, or runs roughly before resuming normal tickover

Check MAF and lambda sensors.

Idle RPM spec is 800+-100 RPM for 97/98 UK turbo.

Thumbs up

agreed, same symptoms here, one MAF (£75) and 1 Lambda (£25) later and it was all smiles again.
While your doing it take the time to clean and regrease the idle solenoid.
it IS worth the £100 outlay.
