after all the problems i have been haveing with my 93 wrx(see holding back) i now think the fuel consumption has got worse about 120-130 miles on a tank. any ideas as i wonder if this is linked to the other fault

 

That is very poor fuel economy. I get about 240 miles to a tank with spirited driving! Find a specialist to check it out, it will pay for itself if it can sorted.

 

What fuel are you running?

i am using super plus unleaded or shell optimax. i used to get about 180 miles to the tank full but is definately got worse

 

has the tailpipe become noticeably sootier (word?)?

do you have an air/fuel mixture gauge in your car? at a guess I'd say something has failed and is making the car run very rich. could be your O2 sensor for starters.

the tail pipe has always semed to be black but i have had so much trouble and changed so many bits but it has only recently got worse

 

120 miles to a tank? Thats about 10mpg. Where do you live? silverstone. Iv got my99 wrx. Always get 230 plus, even been known to hit 300 on a long run.

 

the most ive ever got out of a tank full is about 180/190 miles but i have had a long running fault which i think i may of cured now so i will do another test to see if itis any better
