In the process of removing the ECU, to send away, to have the magic worked.

Do I disconnect the battery and leave unconnected until I re-fit the unit or not?

You disconnect the battery when removing the ECU. That being the case I don't suppose there would be much point reconnecting it in the meantimes as the car will be disabled. Unless you have another ECU that is.

Unless you have a (very) secure garage, leaving the battery connected will atleast mean your alarm works!

wrx's and sti's need attention..

Dont disconnect the battery to remove ecu, IGN off..

unplug connectors.. if you cant get them out then get a flat blades screwdriver (about 5 - 7 mm tip) and push down in the gap at the top of the tab and gently twist.

unbolt ecu..

post.

You only have to send the ECU away if the 28pin chip socket isn't fitted. Some already came equipped with the socket and those which didn't require one to be soldered to the mainboard.

ScoobyECU is only for the early classics (93-96).
