In a week or two I'm gonna spend a bit on my STI7. Any advice on what to get for about £700 would be a help. The things I have in mind are a new backbox (louder one but not too loud!) Louder 'to atmosphere' dump valve. Dustless brake pads, new speakers and a cd changer. Any recommendations on manufacturers for any of the above. I'm in Nottingham so TSL is nearby, I assume they would do everything I need?

Get it re-mapped (Ecutek 3) and the downpipe changed, if you buy second hand on here the exhaust can be quite cheap overall.Never buy new,the re-map is available considerably cheaper than what the dealers will charge you.

Yep...didn't do the 'prodrive' tuning route myself 2. You can get more BHP for your dosh with aftermarket kit - my dealer fitted most of it for me - warranty was fine - till I went mad on turbo, IC, injectors, etc...etc..Now need uprated clutch.

The Standard STi7 is not only mild steel but is VERY restrictive. Simply changing this to a more free flowing Scoobysport or Prodrive one will not only make it sound better but is essential if you want to go down the ECUTEK route.

Be careful when decatting an STi7, they have been known to spike quite badly (1.8bar badly ).
My suggestion would be to save a little more (ie another 500 quid) go for the exhaust and remap at the same time, if you want a dta on there then id get that done along with the remap as this can cause lean spots which will in the end cause engine failure (id save up for a knocklink and some defi gauges, this itself will finish off your 700 quid).

In line with the previous advice, you need a proper exhaust that works. The H+S with downpipe is proven. If you are going to do the up pipe you can port the headers at the same time but as soon as you have removed the cats you need a re-map to keep the engine safe and all this will come to a bit more than £700.
