What mechanically happens in an impreza when you pull out of a T-junction in the wet with too much power? I did this on the way home from work and quickly ended up on the other side of the road heading for a wall. Fortunatley there was no other vehicles about, it all happend so quickly that I'm unsure as to what happend. I think that the front lost grip and the back of the car dug in and pushed me over to the other side of the road. My fault I know for being heavy footed, I will be more careful in the future.

happened to me as well.

My theory is that any car with driven front wheels will spin the fronts far easier when they are turned..quite simply because there are more forces involved.

so fronts slip, rears bite..you've got a RWD TVR !

Had exactly the opposite happen a couple of months ago. A little too much power from a standing start out of a slippery t-junction, and before I knew it, the back end swung round RWD style!

Mine's just a standard UK Turbo, on good tyres ... can't figure that one out ...

Any suggestions?

What MY have you got, coz my standard MY99 likes to power understeer in the wet. Worrying at first but you get used to it (not!).

Had a good one tonight pulling out of a garage quickly, either lots of clutch slip or all four wheels spinning . Instant smile on face and then embarrassment at being so stupid.

Andrew, I had much the same happen on a dry night at the coast. The **** of the car went badly sideways, great fun, a bit scary for the people standing around the area.......

I did read somewhere (but you never know what to believe)that the MY99 had a slight rear power bias (I.E. 60/40). Not sure if it's true but that could go someway to explaining it. But them again, mine (an MY99) tends to understeer most of the time (unless provoked). Not as badly since the Eagle F1's were fitted but it's still there.

made faff all difference.

depends on how far out it is to start with..mine was pretty good.

I have a MY99, it seems from this thread that the 99 has the most problems, unless of course that it tends to be people who are like me new to the cars.

I will have my geometry changed soon to prodrive settings to get less wet understeer and to wear out my standard tyres as fast as possible.

Experienced too much power in wet going round a smallish roundabout on Saturday. The steering went VERY light and I managed to bring the car back to where I wanted it by lifting off the loud pedal.

Only downside was the b********g from the wife sitting next to me

I've had the back end break away a little pulling away a little too quickly from a T-junction on a damp/greasy road quite a long time back. The car just drifted a little sideways and was very easily controlable on the throttle with a little steering correction.

Ploughing around tight roundabouts etc a bit too quickly in slippery conditions pushes the nose out. A little slower in and a little faster out works better for me.
