Now, now, Mike, come on! Steve's a junior member. Don't be so rude!
In answer to your question Steve, don't expect much more than 20-25mpg. It obviously depends on your driving style, but I put £20 of unleaded into mine per day, which normally gets me around 130-150 miles.
If you go to track days, £20 will get you about 50 miles!!!!

Steph, & all.

Just to show that I am not a tyrant, I sent this message to Steve straight after the first one.

Steve Hi.

I have replied rather sarcastically to your first post on the SIDC BBS, I apologise in advance, I should know better. [:<(

There are a lot of these type of questions and the point is don't really matter does it? If we were looking for economy we would all have bloody Micra's.

Hope you enjoy your WRX (I have a MY93 WRX).

Mike. [:<)

Mike.
If someone's filling up every couple of days, and driving less than 100 miles per day, then there may be a problem.
Therefore, there is a point.
Steve didn't just ask what the economy was ( I'm sure he knew it would be pants!) but told us he fills up every couple of days.
If I drove 75 miles a day, and had to fill up every couple of days, I'd have asked the same thing (unless I drove everywhere like a nutter! ).
No return comments please!

Stef.

PS Cool installation!

Get 14-18 mpg on 'short trips' and booting the crap out of it.

Get about 24 on longer stretches - over 35 miles a time. Once managed 32 mpg, following a lorry for about 150 miles up the M5/M42//M1 to Yorkshire - must have annoyed the driver to death.

Always on superunleaded

Fat chance. (No replies)!

You are guessing that he only drives 100 miles! Stop trying to justify having a dig after I had made the post very clearly light hearted and published the apology to Steve straight after (directly).

Steve also sent me another message saying he had half expected such an answer.
I proceeded to answer his question for him.
No complaints.

You were right about the white dials they are black at night time and look fantastic.

What do you mean by 'drove everywhere like a nutter'........ are you trying to claim you don't.

Mike.

All,

You lot should think yerselves lucky! I fill up every day as I live 85 miles from work. Yup, thats 170 miles a day just to work. At least my car is being paid for by the company! The fuel aint though I spend £500 a month on fuel, with little or no personal mileage.

Mike, Stef,

Yup, I got the white dials too. They sort of go 'negative' on you when its dark and the lights are turned on! Cooool!

Mike.

The 100 miles was an example, it didn't refer to Steve ACTUALLY!
I like digging....and a public apology doesn't ward them off!
And I don't drive everywhere like a nutter!

Pilch,

That must add up to a few wine glasses courtesy of BP.

My personal low point was a full tank used up in 140 miles in London driving. I don't know what that equates to in MPG, but it isn't a lot .

Cheers,

Alex

Hi

STi4
I do 50 miles a day to get to work and back.
I'm getting around £40 in, and thats getting me about 220 miles, the best being 260miles! yay, this is of course driving like a pedestrian, upon entering Nigel Mansell mode, consumption drops, I will advise.
All the best
Fern

Darren.

Mike Tuckwood's fitted some white dials to his car.
I think they're from GGR, about £50 (mention SIDC).
Look at the 'Prodrive White Dials' thread in 'Interiors'.

Just to put my pennith worth in about fuel consumption on my 95'WRX 5 door

I usually get about 500km on a tank - about 45 litres (not complete tank as a tend to fill up when the dial reads empty however I sure there's 5litres left)

Most of my commuting driving is I admit on a motorway around the speedlimit with the odd burst to get past pesky gti's :-)

Anybody tell me how many mpg I'm getting (I'm getting more since fitting a blitz induction and magnex backbox)

cheers

marcus

Marcus,

If you figures are correct Then you are getting almost 31.5 mpg. (500km approx 311 miles and 45l approx 9.9 imperial gallons) Does your turbo ever kick in

To get a more accurate MPG, fill the tank to the brim (try not to get wet feet )and reset the trip to 0. The next time you fill up, fill it to the brim again and read off the mileage. Your receipt will tell you how many litres you have used. From memory, 1 gallon = 4.546 litres (dont ask why or how I remember this)

I average 23mpg in a UK MY98 with a mix of A and B road driving.

At the end of the day, fuel really isn't the major cost in owning a Scooby, you just notice it because you fill up more often than you pay for servicing, tax, insurance etc. I actually average 8 more miles to a gallon than I did in my last car, but that did have a 3945cc V8
