new windscreen

Sorry Tony, I don't quit follow. Are you saying that Autoglass will do it for £50? Will they come to my house? If so, do you have their number?
I imagine that an STi V windscreen is the same as a UK MY99?
Many Thanks,
Dave.

I had a windscreen replaced by Autoglass on my 1998 car under my comprehensive policy cover, as mentioned above I only paid £50 excess to the fitter on the day. Check your policy details for a direct contact number of your insurance company's recommended glass replacement service.
One slight warning - my fitter was excellent and took his time to do a proper job. There have been previous posts where screens have been replaced and the roof strips ( don't know their technical name ) have come loose afterwards.
Hope this helps

Sorry Dave, I should elaborate. I did the same as Yex ie. my insurance policy includes windscreen cover - many do these days, I would check your policy. Actual cost I should imagine would be £200-300.

Cheers everyone,
My policy (greenlight), does include the windscreen cover so it will only cost £50. The people who do it also do all the cars for th elocal Subaru Dealer so they should make a good job !
However, any handy tips for identifying what tinge the glass is for my car, blue green or bronze?
The chap said to try a piece of white paper behind one of the windows to identify the tinge, I wondered if you lot had any better suggestions?
Cheers,
Dave

David,
The screen colour for 98MY UK cars is green.I've been through two screens in 3 months, I blame the 4x4 owners with their knobbly tyres! Carefully check the screen they put in as the colours vary a lot. The first screen I had was almost purple, the second is an exact match. I had mine done by Auto Windscreens, I can recommend taking it to them as the difference in the two jobs was unbelievable.

Make sure you take it to their depot and that they do it indoors. Otherwise, given the cold/wet spells, the adhesive etc won't bond properly and given the windscreen is structural, you dont wanna wait to have an accident to find out it wasnt right!
Also, watch when they remove the old one as its easy to scratch the paint where the old adhesive is and it will rust later if they dont cover it up before putting the new screen in
