I just installed a boost control unit on my car (MY99 European spec.).
Maximum boost pressure was set to 1.1-1.2 bar (about 16-17psi).
Acceleration time seems to increase dramatically .

I have an option to re-chip the ECU using Superchip unit.

Since I understand that this unit is just "fool" the ECU about the true boost pressure does any of you see any benefits for spending time and money on installing the Super chip?

Any comment will be helpful,
Eran.

I am being serious we had a client in Australia who dialed his Greddy profec B to 1.6BAR and that is when the fuel cut out system kicked in. That has never occured again but there some strange instances.

The boost regulator fulls the ECU so when the boost reach about 1.2bar the ECU still "see" 0.9bar and continue supply fuel.
Any idea what else the Superchip can do to my car?

I want to buy the Greddy Profec boost control I have a 97' Imprezza GT 4wd turbo (as said on the logo would anyone know if this is for the German market since its left hand drive I got it in the Philippines)would it work on my engine if I increase the boost to 1.2 bar? should I change other things? BTW how many bhp does my car really have the local dealer said its only 208bhp but Ive dirven a 280bhp EVO5 and it feels the same.

This Boost control cut out - how does it work ? My wife was driving the car the other day on the motorway and twice when she was already on boost and pushed the throttle down full the engine seemed to cut out for a moment. Very unpleasant heartstopping sensation - I guess the subconcious is rapidly calcuating the possible cost of engine repairs. Having driven the car (97MY) since and also practicing 'emergency starts' there has been no problem.

Yes Myself, Terry Wilson, his son Ross and Lee are part of this market thrust. That is not to say we have not teamed up with other companies to get anti lift kits, to stock Greddy, Turbonetics and other core essential products.BPM Is the only company to be utilisng the name AVO since we are AVO.

We are here to provide the stability you require.

I've a MY97, with Magnex back box, ramair panel filter and a Superchip. I've recently had this set up to peak at 18psi(1.2bar) as this is where the over boost would have originally cut in, and the car now produces 264 bhp and 258lb ft torque.(No direct comparasion can be made with the PE dyno runs, as all dynos run different - but I wouldn't expect them to be more than 5bhp out, either way).
Superchip claim an increase of 40bhp, but in reality this is probably only 20-25bhp and 30-35 torque.
The in-gear acceleration is the biggest improvement and the car easily pulls away from my mates MY99.
It's really thanks to the infamous Dobbo for the Backbox and Chip, all for £125, as he's upgraded his car to 284bhp.
Go for it.

I've had my Superchip fitted to my MY97 (28000 miles) for the last 17000 miles - No problems what so ever - I run it on UL and SUL. The car was put on a rolling road at about 14000 miles and showed 261 Bhp. The boost is currently set at 17 psi. Can't recommend it enough.

The car was featured in the August 1998 edition of Fast Car magazine. The photo session took place at Brutingthorpe proving ground although not mentioned in the magazine we did a 0..60 test. - My MY97 Vs STI Type IV Coupe and 96WRX.

I forgot to mention that due to a minor mishap I bust one of my front wheels on the day - whoops. (Any one want to buy 3 Super Ts in Gold with Five tyres , so I did my timing runs on a 50 mph rated space saver - scared? me? Yep!

Anyway back to the 0..60, brutingthorpe wasn't kind to us and its damp concrete surface wasn't really the ideal conditions but anyway here are the times.

STI IV 5.6
WRX 5.5
MY97 (Superchip) 5.3

The other Guys were gutted and made their excuses - wrong fuel - change up to soon/late etc.
