I'm getting a quote for having a Clifford Concept 50X fitted to my WRX Type R v5 (arriving soon), does anyone know if i will have to fit extra central locking motors so the car will lock with the remote control.Simon

I had a Concept 50 fitted to a standard 97MY 5dr Turbo in Sept 97 by my dealer in Surrey - Unique. They had to fit 1 extra C/L motor at £50 before it would work. I would have thought that with your car and the 50X it would be much the same.

I had a 50x fitted to my Type R v5 last month. It needed one door lock solenoid on the driver's side. Try opening the doors with the key. The driver's lock should also unlock the passenger side, but not vice versa because only the passenger door opens remotely.

Same on my MY98 4dr. Only difference was I was charged £35 for the motor. Might be worth a quick haggle. It could save you almost 30 mile worth of petrol. Sorry that's Anders' consumtion.

Cheers

I too had a conecept 50x fitted not long ago. Extra solenoid though was only £25 fitted, seems it is worth haggling.
A question for those who already have the 50x fitted though... Does your flashing LED 'go out' as soon as you turn the ignition on (mine takes approx 5-6 flashes after the car is started) and does the warning light on the dashboard to say that there is a door open stay on until the car is started. I find these quirks odd! Should I get the installers back? Otherwise very pleased.

I have a Forester turbo (I’d love a impreza but here in Ireland they charge nearly £10,000 more than the UK for the privilege) and when my 50x was fitted they fitted the remote locking before the orignal circuit in the car. I didn’t need an extra door motor.

The flashing of the LED is normal as well as the door open warning light by the way.

I have a 50X and yes you have to pay extra for the motor on the drivers door. The reason the light flashes after starting may be to do with the rocker switch no being in the mid position. I sometimes accidentally knock mine to the on position and the only reason I know is when I have started the car the light flashes about 6 times.
