Rattles at back of MY99
#1
I’ve got an MY99 which rattles. There is a ringing noise coming from near the rear inertia reels on both sides, which starts at about 50 mph and gets louder as you go faster. Has anybody else had this problem?

Most interior rattles originate from the door trims. You should be able to tell if this is your problem by tapping the bottom of the door trim. The bottom half is hard plastic. This rattles on the trim clips. To fix - remove the door trim by :
1. Remove screw under square plastic cover
2. Lift out electric window switch (lever up from end towards front of car) and disconnect.
3. Remove screw now exposed from 2.
4. Unclip door handle/lock surround. This is very tight. I have found it best to lever this from the side towards the back of the car. Note. there is no need to remove the screw in this area.
5. Pull trim away from door starting at the bottom. The top of the trim hooks over some hangers.
Use sticky back rubber (or draft excluder (2 thinknesses worked on my friend car)) and stick strips between each of the plastic clips.
Whilst the trim is off check no wires etc. are loose.
Re-fit trim.
This pads the trim out and stops it rattling.
Hope this helps and that I have not missed any steps out!
