Hi,

Read the FAQ, about the DumpValve sticking, but not convinced this is what I have. My car is a 99 with only 1000 miles.

It is a low-pitched whistling, like the "blowing over the top of a bottle" noise reported in the FAQ. My car is only 1000 miles old, and has been present from the near begining. Apparently the dump-valve problem was overcome in the 98 MY. Mine is a 99. It can't be the dump valve, allready??

The sound appears as follows:
1. Car stopped, in neutral. Reving engine at constant 3100 rpm, and the whistling is quite audible.

2. Car in gear, and then engine breaking only. The noise appears at 3100 rpm, then again at 2800 rpm, and then again at 2400 rpm, as the rpm fall.

Dealer first said he couldn't hear anything, and then siad this was "normal" Yeah, right...

So I ask the experts. Any thoughts?

Jonas

The blow off valve on the MY99 is a completely different unit to the ones mentioned before, it has also been relocated. I have noticed the induction noise is higher in most of the 99 cars i have been in, and the turbo seems more noticable but these would all be high pitched noises not low ? Without hearing the car it would be difficult to say for certain. Unfortunately with you being in Sweden that probably wont help
