Cleaning Boost control Solenoid ?

o.k guys I have done a fair bit of maintenance on my previous scoob MY93 WRX but as I now have a MY00 I am seeking some advice to cleaning pipes etc.
Basically my new car appears to be suffering with the dreaded hesitation and pulses when I gently accelerate when cold ? I am wanting to clean the MAF and boost control solenoid but want to make sure I am cleanign the right thing. Firstly can anyone give me some tips on cleaning the MAF (wasn't that difficult on MY93) but I seem to believe that this type of MAF is more tricky to clean ?
And secondly how do I clean the boost control solenoid ? I would be grateful to know which sensor is which on the strut ? any advice or photos showing sensors etc would be great.
