Oh I know exactly what you mean now - it's a pre MY99 select montior convertion interface, one of only three made. The whereabouts of the other two are currently unknown...

Start the bidding at £999

I'll really try my best to remember it tomorrow night then. dnb, are you the chap with the green MY96, Super T's and a wooden guage pod ?

Was driving along the other day and felt a snake like thing land on my feet , it looks like this:

I'm guessing it is something to to with the select montior port but I've never noticed it before, and I've done a lot of digging around in that footwell in the past!

It unplugged at the other end so I just took it out - car still works!

Looks to me like it's a pre MY99 select monitor connector to standard ODBII conversion lead. A close up of the dirty connector would help confirm this...

Bring it to the South Hants meet in Portsmouth of you're going and I'll have a closer look.

Mart, does boris eat cats? Maybe that explains where mine have gone? Nutter!

Thought it was something to do with Select monitor, my car was at a dealers a few months ago and I think they probably ran diagnostics on it. Is this likely to be something they've left in the car or just something they've unravelled from the loom? Like I said I've never noticed it before.

I'll be at the Pompey meet so will bring it along for you to have a butchers...

Check that its not the actual select monitor port as thats the connector that is normally mounted into the dash, the connecting lead has the mating half afaik.

cheers

If it is that (select monitor port doodah), does it really matter that I've taken in out? Does anyone know where it is supposed to mount behind the dash?

The connector (Left hand in the photo) looks like the mating half to the one in the pre99 cars. I'd say it's to convert the new select monitors to work with the older cars.

I'd like to see it more than ever now! (I have a small interest in these things )
