Hi guys

Posted few days ago on general forum about idling problems. Well Ive had the idle speed control valve cleaned and this made things slightly better. But it still seems to be running a bit lumpy. Now resigning myself to it being the MAF sensor.

Does anybody know the part number for the MAF sensor for the Type-R Version 3. Also where could I purchase this from (the £70 one not the £300 item!!!) My local dealer seems very reluctant to have anything to do with it!

Also whilst I'm here would you try cleaning it first to see if it makes any difference or would I just be pi$$ing around for nothing.

Thanking you all in advance as in the past responses have been $hit hot!

Oh yeah and i wouldnt bother trying to clean it as i dont know anyone who's had any success and for something as vital as that it really isnt worth it.

Up to 98 the MAF was a hot wire type. STIs were up to Version 4 by this time. Version 5 will be the film type MAF which can be bought as stated above.
It appears that pre 98 MAFs have to be bought as a total item, circa £300 new.
I got hold of a s/hand item from grade a subaru (Andrew on 01663 744114).
My part no. was 22680 AA280, but I think that there are several model versions.
Andrew can work out which one you need from the colour of the part no. sticker on the side of the MAF. Cost was £85.
