Hi there, is sul as good as optimax? so far i've only used optimax in my sti v2 (with octane booster) but my local garage (esso) sells sul and i was wondering if it is safe to use it.

Cheers Johnny.

Don't know about Esso SUL, but Optimax runs LOADS better than BP SUL in mine (standard MY00). Also cheaper than BP SUL! Only problem is, there aren't many Shell garages in my area

Esso SUL is probably the best SUL.
Peronally, I find that the Esso SUL is better than my local Optimax (but not as good as another Shell place that's further away!).
There might, possibly, vaguely, maybe be a chance that Optimax 'disagrees' with some boosters (there are various chemicals that work as octane boosters - whatever they say, Optimax uses boosters to reach the RON they claim, and mixing different chemicals is a bad idea!). That's IMO, but if it were my car I wouldn't use Optimax + booster, I'd use Esso SUL + NF.
BP are touting 100 RON stuff about but I don't think it's got here yet .

If it ever does get here, imagine the price... Still, worth it. Would certainly be a blessing for import owners and anyone who currently has to use boosters.
