Dropping Oil Pressure - wondering cause
#1
I have an oil pressure gauga fitted on MY94. I have noticed over the past while that the pressure is about 5 to 6 BAR on startup & stays there until engine gets warm.
However, I've noticed that when the engine warms for a while - especially in town traffic where there may be a good bit of starting / stopping it drops to around 1.5 BAR & sometimes when you let of the accelerator it drops to about 1 BAR & then comes up to 1.5 BAR. It's a bit worrying!
I'm wondering on what the cause may be and what would cure it. I've read before about some oil causing higher pressures than before - if anyone knows what brand oil that is could they post?
Would the problem be with the oil pump - maybe it needs changing? I've also read on searches that the cam belt, pullies, etc need to come out, and it's easier if the rad is removed.
If anyone has any ideas or thoughts - it's be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Johny.

Motul 300v is good at increasing oil pressure i believe.
Before any panic, id be inclined to change oil & filter first and take things from there.
If the presure rises to a respectable level while driving on the open road, i wouldnt worry to much!
Id be far more concerned of a sudden presure loss at speed.
