Guys,
After much fun tracking my 99 sti 5 at Donnington, on the last session of the day, with little less than 1/4 tank left, i pulled out of a bend and got an almighty flat spot. I backed off straight away, checked temp and oil pressure, both of which seemed fine and pulled into the pits. The car seemed fine all the way home.
Can anyone shed light on the situation, it felt like a fuel starvation?

I bet it was a right hander...
...its fuel starvation - get the same on mine on track with less than a third of a tank of fuel...or even half a tank if I am driving hard on slicks on a hot day!

If it is still running fine - no...
...the worst case is actually if you didn't get the violent dead spot - in this case of partial fuel starvation the car runs leans - dets its nuts off and bang goes a piston/rod/big end.
As I say if it is still running fine you are almost certainly OK.

See the bottom of the *our products* page.
With this kit I can run through the chicane at Dono on slicks with the fuel gauge showing below empty....no starvation.
No connection just a happy customer

I resolved the fuel surge issue in my car - at least partially bit fitting a deeper 'filter basket' and relocated the pump further down in the tank - as deep as it would go.
Not as good as a full surge system - or even better a swirl pot - but better than nothing.
