'Ello

Just wondering if anyone can offer some advice on how best to cut braided fuel hose.

So far i have tried: -

Sharp pincers - no avail

Tin snips - no avail

Tank tape and hacksaw - worked, yet the braid has frayed quite badly.

Any top tips?

Cheers

Chop saw.. angle grinder style..

Angle grinder with cutting blade..

Might be worth wrapping the braid with sticky tape..

As DW says but you definately need to tape the cut line to avoid fraying.

I've found the best way is to use "paper" masking tape, wrapped around 3-4 times, very tightly, and a "junior" hacksaw.

Standard size hacksaw is hopeless, and masking tape seems to work far better than any of the other types of tape.

The best way i found to cut the braided hose was wrap it round a few times with masking tape, then use a branch / root cropper (Like bolt cropper, but bigger with a sort of hooked blade on one side) we had. Worked well for me, and gave a nice clean cut each time.

If you've got accecc to a metal guilotean (Spelling?) you could try with that.

may hose supplier.. www.mendahose.co.uk did mine with a chop saw.. they had some thing with a fancy looking blade mounted to the desk but the motor was shagged.. so they used achop saw.. very quick and worked well. (no tape used either.. but then you dont see the braid on a crimp on fitting.
