Strong smell of fuel

Can someone please just confirm that my Lambda sensor is shafted. When i slow to a stop from accelerating hard my revs are up and down like a yo yo and theres a real strong smell of fuel when i have my window down. The car is also lacking power slightly could this be the reason why?

I get this as well on an MY97 Import.
I have already replaced the Lambda but with no success.
I get an uneven idle but this seems to be only when I have pulled up in gear but with the clutch down. No idle problem if in neutral (neutral switch playing up?)
The smell is like a very rich exhaust, rather than unburnt fuel - a sort of "sweet" smell.
I am also getting what sounds like a slight blowing noise so wonder if there is a leak in the exhaust pre downpipe (catted).
I am getting mine serviced next week so I may be able to report back then.
