Question

All
Got an my93 wrx, at the minute my clutch is sticking occasionally. Now I know that this is a simple job as its just a spring that needs changing. Then my clutch will release properly.

The other problem that I am having is that 2nd and reverse gears seem to grind every now and then. Although this is too frequent to be from bad gear changing. My local specialist tells me that this could be the syncromesh that needs changing. Although this is about £600 to remove the gearbox to even tell what it is.

Anyone got any ideas?. Could it be that the sticky clutch could be causing this?. Or will the syncromesh need changing.

Finally my local place said that they cant do it for about 2 weeks. So does anybody know anyone else in the bristol area that could asap as its my week off.

How about Powerstation, anyone got the tel no.?

Thanks in advance
Dave

Exclamation

I have a similar problem with my UK 95 Turbo, its intermitant, usually worse going from 1st to 2nd, usually worse when you change gear for the first couple of times when the cars cold and when it s warm after a fast run, its as if you can "feel" the teeth jumping / meshing when engaging, it also sometimes happens going from 3rd to 2nd, although if I double De-ctuch with a quick blip of the throttle as it passes through neutral it goes in sweetly, i suspect syncro's. My local specialist reckons it not worth worrying about. Hear horror stories about Scooby 'boxes, - any one got any comments, stories, experience, costings on this subject???

Forgot to mention that i've just had a new STI Clutch fitted to mine as he thought this would help, didn't appear to, though on inspection the clutch was very worn & the thrust bearing had started to break up, cars got 62k on it, have done approx 500 miles since clutch fitted.

Yes, well it could be both causing the problems but most likely to be your clutch, because reverse doesn't have a synchro.
