hello all
car failed its MOT due to emmisions 99T uk turbo and after getiing it checked out I was told the lambda sensor is faulty.
Went to get it replaced today and watching mechanic having a bit trouble, he later tells me that it is seized in and won't budge and if forced its going to strip threads so the car has to be stripped further to re-tap hole which is going to cost about 3x original price.
just wondered if anybody else had this trouble or any ideas.
cheers peeps
steve.

Do it yourself, spray with WD40 the day before you do it, let it soak, 'if' it pulls the thread, get an old spark plug, (it's the same thread!!) and put a hacksaw cut down the thread, then wind that into the downpipe, then fit the new sensor!
Don't blame me if it doesn't work!!

If you're asking if there's anything wierd going on here, then no. A lambda smack after the turbo (required in any turbo car) is going to seize eventually. There's some fairly serious heat cycling going on there

cheere everyone
Done the lambda sensor myself, sprayed with WD40 and let it soak overnight, got the heat sheld slack to get at the sensor and it came out straight away. Fitted new one and car has now passed MOT.
Saved money as the universal sensor only cost £48 (Or should I say saved myself from been ripped off from garages because they think they can take subaru owners eyes out)
once again cheers
