HELP !

I'm certain that I can find several posts talking about ECUTEK upgrades to 98MY uk cars, but the ecutek site says 99->

Gaahghgh....

Does anyone have a definitive answer here, before I spend 500+ on Dawes and associated needed parts ?

John B., Your advice much needed here .....

Im 99.9% sure the ECUTEK upgrade is just for my99 onwards
Ive also got a my98 and just wish i could have it done.
There are other ECU routes you could take though.

Power Engineering do one mate! Heres the text from their website:

Phase One (pre 99 model year) models: £650 (£763.75).

Heres the page:

ECUTEK can only be done on my99> cars. the confusion is down to Subaru starting the 99 model year in Sept '98

N3WwrxB0Y,
look in Scoobyshop (top of the page)

Question

SO... to be clear....

ECUTEK is 99> (Model Year) (which is Sept 98)...

BUT PE do a bolt on (extra board) which allows them to re-configure Pre-99 cars, e.g. my 98MY (Oct 97)....

Yes ?

As I understand it the most popular options are:

96 and before - ScoobyECU (piggy back board)
97 and 98 - PE (piggy back board)
99 onwards - ECUTEK (remap)

It's a shame that no one makes a cheaper option for the 97/98 owners

That about sums it up. The other option of course is complete ECU change for Link, Motek etc, (£1600) or the fitting of a Unichip.

But MY98 is the oddball, no easy/cheap ECU upgrade as for other years earlier and later.

I was recently speaking to the guys at PSI3 about the monitor and why it wasn't available for MY98 yet. Their answer was the MY98 ECU has 14 possible software versions and they need to make sure it runs on them all before releasing.

Talk about not being able to make up you mind - Subaru must have been on some wierd ECU trip that year (unluckily for me). . . . .
