Pace can also be made to fit, but it is a bit of work.
Im sure some of the australian companies probably make something that would bolt straight in though.

They cause quite bad lag, you would be best to get an engineering crowd to reverse your inlet so you only have short pipes to the intercooler.

Stick to the charge cooler, maybe just a different design..

Scoobymat,

If you're interested in an uprated chargecooler let me know.

Would consist of a large rad, about 660x260x40mm (maybe thinner, dunno yet) (which would actually make the standard engine side bit work much better). At the engine side I'm looking at a core about 4 times the volume of the legacy standard one, with a turbo connection that would run past the clutch master cylinder, over the turbo and down to the outlet, which would be rotate to point upwards (that bit may cause problems with the 90' bend on the turbo inlet though).

I emailed MRT as they do an uprated rad too, I placed an order with scoobymania and never heard another thing, hence going my own way. But MRT said the uprated rad makes a big difference.

I am looking at about £250 for the rad and £200 for the chargecooler bit from Pace

Cool

When you say "engine side bit" I assume you mean the heat exchanger, not the cars coolant radiator.

I've been looking at doing this too (using another aircon rad as a larger charge-cooler radiator) but the aircon rad won't fit, and my understanding of the principals involved are not good enough to work out how much improvement I'll get from just changing the radiator.

Pavlo....have you measured the temps within the system?

I had assumed that a larger heat exchanger would require a higher flowing pump to remain efficient, and as the factory item is a two speed pump, this would be hard to source. This is purely conjecture.

As far as I can gauge from other people who have made similar modifications, the found the radiator made the biggest difference to charge temps, then the flow speed, and then the heat exchanger.
As I understand it, you are simply trying to keep the heat exchanger cool under a certain air flow rate to acheive a certain level of cooling? You probably understand the maths better than me!

Is this worthy of a FMCC project?
