Car died - please help!!!!
#1
Someone please help!! I posted a thread the other day about my car stalling and my AFR showing rich all the time. I have just tried to start it again and it wont fire up now. The afr is constantly showing rich, I have connected the diagnostic port but it shows ok with no error codes. I can't hear the fluid noise that I usually get when I turn on the ignition. I thought it might be the fuel pump as the car turns over but doesn't fire up but why would this cause the afr to show rich??? I presumed it would show lean I'm supposed to be going to Scotland on sunday in it and now I'm panicking
Can someone please point me in the right direction as I don't know what to try first (and yes, I do have petrol in before anyone asks)
I am supposed to be going out in half an hour but all I can do is worry about what's wrong HELP!!!!!!

The AFR is not going to give any meaningfull readings while you are turning the engine over to start it .... you need to start with the basics, are you getting fuel up to the injectors? ... are you getting a spark?

But the afr never lights up for at least five minutes normally so I'm confused as to why it comes straight on to fully rich, even without the engine turning over. This says to me that the lambda is sending out a voltage even when engine isn't turning

Turning over but not firing up at all. I can't hear the fuel pump working. I removed the cover in the boot (right hand one) Pulled off the power connector and measured the voltages across all four wires. On one wire I got 5 volts but on the other 3 there was nothing at all. I presume two are earth wires so am I missing a voltage somewhere?

if the fuel pump isnt working then I would suspect either :-
Dead fuel pump
Crank sensor
immobiliser
or as in my case a dodgy connection on the ecu (daughterboard fell off)
hope this might help you

I did the CEL diagnostic last night and it showed no errors so I presume the crank sensor is ok. Need to find out what voltages should be present on the fuel pump wiring block as I only have 5 volts on one wire (Battery level seems ok)

Have posted in drivetrain - seems to be fuel pump power problem as I have the 5v feed to the pump but the 12v feed is missing. Have to try and locate the relay

Charlie, would remove last comment if i was you mate...
better be safe than sorry...
Bit toooooo much info..
IIRD the gauge sender uses the 5v input, and puts it out as whatever level the fuel is at..
two of the wires are the feed and return to the sender unit, the other two are the live and earth for the pump.
