I'd like to get the geometry looked and changed on my '02 WRX (excessive wear on the inside of the front tyres).
Any ideas on where should I go around South London for a good result?
And how much am I looking at paying?

I've got the same problem on my 02 WRX, it was in for its 10,000 mile service last week and my dealer says its normal! A few other postings on here confirm it also from several other 02 owners.
Anyway, I didn't push the issue too much 'cos I thought I would get it aligned when I get new tyres.
In the mean time I increased the tyre pressures by 1psi all round a few months ago and I think it has helped (more of the centre of the tyre in contact with the ground being my thinking).
The wear seems to have evened out a bit, I also swapped the tyres front to back at the same time as the rears were in much better shape.

Its the bumpsteer which causes that wear on the fronts. Mine used to do that until the bumpsteer was removed. Try looking at some of the threads on "Suspension" which should explain it to you.

Miniman,
Try Merrit (?) Tyres at the bottom of Kingston Hill. (Next door to Dominos Pizza in Kingston)
They come highly recommended on the VW forums, as they have full laser alignment equipment and can adjust camber, etc.
I plan on trying them next time as they are very close to me!
I use to travel down to Micheldever Tyres off juction 8 on the M3, as they have loads of Subaru experience!
As do Mill Lane Engineering in Basingstoke who are a Subaru dealer.
Micheldever and Mill Lane, use to be less than £50 to have the full geometery check.
I think Merrit Tyres are about £60, but just imagine how much money you save on petrol!!

I've been following this for a few weeks, several people with '02's have the same issue. I deliberately posted it here rather than the Tyres forum.
Dealers all say that its normal! I guess as the handling is not bad than you could consider this OK. But this much wear "normal"? No I don't think so. However taking it back to the dealer will only result in them checking the setup and making sure its correct as per spec and then probably charging me for it.
I'd prefer to get it sorted if I'm paying for something and several people have mentioned removing bumpsteer (that's what I should have said) so I'll go check out the people mentioned.
Thanks

P1 Owner. If you find one I would be very interested. Extreme in Harlow have the gear but last time I asked they wanted £105. Micheldever now charge £40+ for the first hour, then hourly rate. They say 'could be about 2 hours depending on how much out it is!'. Power Engineering in Uxbridge say £90.

I used Feltham Tyres in The Cause Way, North Feltham for my Laser Alignment.
Cost me £62.00 for 4 x Toe Adjustment, Front camber adjustment abd the 4 wheels alignment. You get a decent print out of the before and after as well.
Very helpful and not bad coffee!
