Question

I am just about to have some Bosch coils imported from Oz! My garage manager reckons that the coils are not any different from th OE ones and are just standard replacements!!

Is it worth importing the bosch ones or will new Subaru ones do just as good a job!!!

Dom.

Cool

What model is your car? If it has the coil packs on top of the spark plugs then yes it is worth doing, mainly because they are halg price and give a better spark. Let me know if you do import some as i am interested in these coils and we can go halves on the shipping.

No 1 has said they are a performance item. The are an OE replacement part, but will need fitted away from the heat of the engine, which is one of the resons the std coils fail apparently.
They are also less than half the price of the original coils.
So far, all who have changed to the bosch have noticed improvements. So I would say, that in general, they are better. If your standard coils need replaced, then it certainly is a much cheaper option than original coils.

WRX...you say Graham Goode stock the parts, but Im curious that you mention in another thread that they charged you £250.
Including shipping from Australia, the Bosch coils that several people have bought should only cost about £80 ( or less ) for all 4, including all shipping and VAT costs.
Was GGR's costs including fitting and leads, or where they original replacement coils for a subaru.

inerestingly, the ones I just got from Oz take the 98 style leads, ie they have a female socket on the coil.

Means cheap Bosch or Lucas leads can be bought to use, although I have some MY98 ones to go on.

Sold
The funny thing is i get on quite well with the Oz supplier of the coils, but due to past group buy problems i will not pursue it.

If anyone would like to organise a group buy on these mail me and i will forward the phone no. and personal mail add.
