lights on the dash

while im driving my handbrake light and battery light keep flashing on and off and sometimes stay on for a while, is this anything to worry about or is it no big deal

You must have a loose connection somewhere, trouble is loose connections cause sparks!!!!!!!
Probably behind the dash as the two lights are not related...

had some work done on the car as in engine bay for the exhaust could the 2 be related or just a coincidence

if i remember rightly the low brake fluid light which is i think the handbrake light does run through the alternator so the two could be related

AHHH could be something to do with it, scoobyboy is right the low brake fluid light is the same as the hand brake light and this could be in the same loom as the alternator one, have you checked the wiring around the exhaust etc plugs, connectors and melted insulation.
