I am thinking about replacing the Dump Valve on MY97 STI TYPE R, has any one used or herd one of these so called loudest dump valves in the world (up to 150db), they are made by TurboXs abd are sold through
www.potn.com.

I thought about this but if you raise the volume I presume its by forcing the air through a restricted hole so the pressure must be higher inside I.e. its not doing its job properly releasing pressure quickly.

Hey Faster Mike do you think its actually too loud. Its a tricky question, but is it a pain going off all the time or just loud but good......if you know what I mean LOL

Well...you could do what I did: get the HKS (it's loud and sounds cool) and fix it so it doesn't go off all the time.
This was achieved using a 2 port solenoid, a pressure switch and a normal switch for inside the car.
Connect the pressure switch to a vacuum line and set it for about 9psi. Then connect the in-car switch accross it to "override it" and force the dumpvalve on. Connect this in series with the solenoid. Then you have a system whereby you have NO dumpvalve at low boost, unless you flip a switch to get all the silly noises (or if you are driving in a way that will abuse the turbo....i.e. sudden throttle movements etc etc).
BUT in the event of high boost when your dumpvalve is "Switched off" the pressure switch will ensure the solenoid enables the vaccuum line and triggers the dumpvalve, protecting your precious turbine.
I only did this because I value the sleeper status of my car, and so tend to drive it mostly with the dumpvalve switched off.
In the event of a bit of "traffic light grand prix" with a ford/r5 GTTurbo or whatever, or if I am "driving spiritedly" I will switch it on, as it enhances my drving pleasure and gives the 'badge' boys something to gawp at.
-shrug-
It's all a taste issue. Everyone knows what an impreza is, so why pretend?

no i don`t think it`s too loud, but then i think it sounds good, as do most people that have heard it. as for the coments about bringing it down to the ford/gt turbo level they are just snobs
if you want the WRC chatter then leave the std dump valve on and get an induction kit as this makes a cherping sound
