squeaking noise from around alternator

i got this sqeaking noise that seems to be from around the belts and on the air con, PAS, alternator pulleys. it sound like one of those cricket/locust things and is most noticable on idle. i think i can smell rubber but i may be wrong. anyone else had this or got any ideas?
