Yesterday soldered on the Lambda sensor wires wrapped them individually in heatshrink.

AFR meter still dances up and down ok.

But when I drive hard in 4th I get det.!!!!
It has only been since soldering on O2 sensor wires.

Connected the Black connectors under the dash and got 32 which is O2 sensor?? But I thought it was working cos of my AFR??

And for the people who haven't seen my recent posts, I last week put on a New Bosch LSM-11 O2 Sensor.

Boost is now at 1.1 bar which is a little better but still gets a little det??? I can hear a crackle like a crisp packet..... An Knocklink light orange when the noise appears.

Could it be a dodgy batch of fuel?
Optimax + Booster

Any Ideas
Scott ??????????????????????????????????????????

Lightbulb

Come to think of it I have also changed to STP Octane booster last week, but people claim that it seems to be good.
I have thrown in another bottle of STP as it might be a dodgy batch of Optimax. I wonder..............

Have just ordered Millers just in case and will let ya know.

STP good or bad ???

Was originally using Wynns without any problems but just cannot get hold of any.

Cheers

Unhappy

Tried my car tonight with 3 1/4 of a tank of Optimax and 2 bottles of STP Booster.

I am still getting det at 1.1bar in 4th gear about 5000rpm.
I have reset the Ecu and no difference

Things I did over the weekend:

1: Soldered on 02 sensor
2: Cleaned MAF sensor with brake cleaner
3: Filled with petrol.

It has only started happening since the weekend so it must be one of these things causing it.
I am worried now don't want to rebuild my engine AGAIN. And I have got a RR day in a couple of weeks.
As I have stated above my AFR lights up BLUE for rich and it is a new 02 sensor (LSM-11).

Someone must be able to give me some advice.
Thanks
Scott

Knocklink is set to high sensitivity
Knock sensor is just behind OE one on the block.
Will check to see if anything is loose near it, I do hear a rattling noise when the knocklink lights up so that is why i am assuming its det.

Thanks

I have "strapped down" anything that is loose near the knocklink sensor.

Good news is I cannot hear the det noise anymore.
Bad news is knocklink still shows orange det.

I gave the knock sensor (not directly) a "tap" with a screw driver and could not get the BIG RED to light up no matter how hard I "tapped"?

I also remember I put copperslip grease under the knock sensor, I saw it on another post somewhere, is this ok?

Scott,

You shouldn't be putting any grease under the sensor, which is a microphone. The sensor needs to make direct contact with the block for full sensitivity. I assume the grease would act as a shield, i.e noise restrictor.

Clean up the grease from the block and the sensor, re install it and see what happens.

I have no grease on mine, no friends of mine have it either and I have not seen it mentioned on here. Also it is not mentioned in the instructions that come with the Knocklink.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

Good point.

I did read it on here somewhere though about a month ago. I shouldn't believe everything I read. Will remove the grease tomorrow and let you all know, I hope it is as simple as that...!

I knew it must of been something I did, it always is

Thanks for your patience

Sorry to sound stupid but I am new to all this and need to replace my 02 sensor as well but I am concerned as to what DET stands for ?
Is it serious ? as I have been told that soldering a new sensor on can cause problems.
Thanks

Ok, I have now removed the grease from the knocklink

But my knocklink is still detecting knock about 5000rpm mostly in 4th gear.
All I can assume now is its a dodgy tank of fuel/octane booster.

Funny though why my AFR is still registering Rich mixture at WOT and it was fine a week ago??

Am I right in saying that the ECU controls the mixture at WOT and the lambda sensor only controls mixture at cruise but reads at WOT only to tell me on my AFR?

Any other thoughts would be much appriciated and there is not anymore hidden things that I did over the weekend

Thanks
Scott
