Turbo rap??? Good idea?
#1
Anyone using turbo rap to reduce underbonnet temps? These kits are real expensive for what they are...does anyone know if exhaust rap (upto 2000 deg F) will work around a turbo, ie what are the max temps for a turbo - I've heard they can glow orange, but how hot is that?

You lag an exhaust to keep the thing warm so it is still hot gas at the end. Helps get it out of there.
Figure lagging a turbo on a standard car is a bad thing. Surely you want to get heat out of the turbo not retain it? Water jacket?

After chatting with my mate turbo-Ken, I'm thinking of using air ducts above the turbo to push the hot air out. This still allows the turbo (bearings inc) to run at normal temps, but drops underbonnet too.
