Those numbers aren't too far away from the usual P1 results. I think mine made 280/237 with a full decat, so I wouldn't worry.

Checkout the Dyno site.

Do you have a boost gauge ?

Edited to say the first time I ran at at PS it made 253/224. Now, it had a misfire at high revs at this point, so I changed the plugs for some HKS ones from Bob Rawle and regapped at 0.7, and it was fine after that.Just a thought.

Before I start, I know already that rolling road "shoot-out" figures are sometimes a bit wide of the mark, succeptible to all sorts of factors and usually just good for a bit of "pub talk".

Bearing that in mind, I had my P1 dynoed yesterday at Powerstation as I was there getting a new tyre anyway.
The car made 262Bhp and 226Tq. The 262 is there or thereabouts but the 226 is a standard UK turbo type figure

Any ideas what could cause such a low torque figure? I think the car has been performing less than ideally for a while now and was booked into Tileys for a check-up tomorrow anyway. The dyno was partially to confirm or disprove my feelings about the car.
I've had the car for about 6 months now. It's a W reg that I bought with about 10000m on it. It now has 19000m. No mods apart from a Prodrive backbox, Samco pipework and Forge recirc DV (only fitted these as I had them off my old MY00). It's always run on Optimax and I use NF as well

The car seems to run slightly roughly, or at least sound a bit rough in 4th and 5th and has lost some of it's pull in 3rd. I had put this down to me getting used to it and perhaps getting a paranoid

Is there anything that would cause a dyno to produce such a low figure? I don't think it was the dyno as the car after mine produced the expected figures.

I'm wondering if perhaps there's a boost leak or something like that....any other ideas?

As an aside, I test drove an STi8 on the way home. Performance was nothing like the P1's (not just saying that BTW - I am considering the 8 with PPP so have no axe to grind) so perhaps I am just paranoid

Talking

Ah okay I just thought the torque figures should've been a lot higher but perhaps not. My decatted MY00 made 236 odd at PS...

Anyway, the bloody thing is still faster than my abilities so I'll stop whining

Question

P130j,
i take it your running your P1 on super unleaded fuel?
A boost gauge would as stated, also benefit you as you can see if your car is dropping power anywhere (clogged wastegate pipe for instance) but not much more to go on.....

Yup, run on it Optimax + NF.

As for the boost gauge, I've actually got a triple Defi setup. Only snag is though, they're sat in a box on a shelf in my garage.
Frankly I've been fairly disappointed with their performance to date. Think I'll try actually fitting the bloody things now and see if that improves things at all.......

Went to G-force motorsport today to get another dyno and to check boost and AFR.

Figures, for what it's worth, were 269Bhp and 244Tq. Interesting things though were that the max boost was just about 1.0 and that the car was running hugely rich. In fact their kit only registered as far as 0.69 - the lambda graph was pretty much just a straight line at 0.69....
Any thoughts/ideas about this? I though peak boost for the P1 was about 1.15 - 1.2.
As for running very rich, other than making for poor fuel economy is there a problem with this? (I can't think of one)

I can post the boost and lambda curves for anyone's interested....

PS. G-Force Motorsport: what a thoroughly nice place. Excellent set-up, nice people and heaps of Porsches
Highly recommended.

My MY99 only made 258 + 223 last week I posted my dissapointment on powerstation dyno. As my car had previously made 273 + 249 on clive atthowes. But I did see a Honda S2000 standard, make exactly what it should on the PS dyno. I have to say it is probably one of the most accurate about. Oyhers are 10-20% optimistic shall we say!!!

I don't doubt it's power accuracy, just the torque figures. The PS dyno pretty much always gives "book" figures for power

Question

I thought the standard p1 figures were 276 Bhp / 264 lbs

Must admitt i had the old miss fire at high revs and changed them for Hks.

I had mine RR at the weekend 303 Bhp / 281 lbs with full de-cat/airfilter / link ecu.

I wanted the torque figure near 300

I had a simular situation last year when my UK300 PPP made a low torque figure on P.E rollers, (222 lbs). Your torque figure does seam pretty low when compaired to this. Anyway I took my car back to Tiley's who after a little chat were more than happy to try and sort it out. This they did (see Dave) car goes much better. Good luck, but don't be talked out of the problem with the line "Their's nothing wrong with it sir".

These were my figures for a MY00, with centre decat, Scorpion back box, Dawes Device running at 16.5 psi and JR panel filter

260 bhp @ 6460
251lb/ft @ 4000

Tested at Well Lane Turbos, arranged by Rich Wild.
Have the Graph to prove it, but sceptical about the figures.
