my95 jap import starts very keenly when stone cold but when the engine is warm it doesn`t want to start, if I wait for a minute or two it will start (very embarrassing on the garage forecourt).
Recently replaced the maf and that cured stalling problem. It was a new part £217 so I don`t think it`s that.
I was wondering if its possibly running rich and is there any way to adjust this???

Having exactly the same prob with my RB5.
Have to loiter for about 5 mins after filling up. It's hard to appear nonchalant when your exhaust's a bit rude.
Does yours fire up then cut out, or just not fire up?

It's most likely to be a dicky cam position sensor or crank position sensor.
Mine starts find from cold and when warm / hot if left for only 5 - 10 minutes, if left for about 30 mins to 2 hours it often refuses to start. Then when sufficiently cool again it will then start!
Having said that it has refused to start after only a few minutes on some occasions.
It I lift the bonnet wiggle / pull the cam position sensor (mounted behind the top of the right hand cam whilst looking into the engine bay) then it will start again immediately. I have now got a second hand sensor from Central Subaru but have not yet fitted it yet, but will do soon!
Hope this helps.

Thanks Telephonewire.
I'm just nipping out to see if I can locate those pesky sensors.
I don't hold out much hope though - I'm as thick as whale omelette when it comes to the mysteries under the bonnet.

thanks telephonewire, just located both those sensors and practised wiggling technique
I did notice that both sensors are very similar in appearance and wondered if they are the same part no.? I`ll have to do a self test on the weekend and see if anything comes up.
Untill then any more suggestions more than welcome.
