Been suffering with a slight crunching/creeking for a while now when depressing the clutch.
tried everything but it wouldn't go away, so I was convinced it was the release bearing!!!

Then someone on here sugested changing the clutch fluid, so I bled the system through at the weekend with dot 5 had a few bubbles come out and eureka it's cured.........

Just thought I would brag about it to someone.

I removed the pedal assy, greesed everything but it didn't cure it.
Bleeding:
Use Dot 5 and a one man bleed pipe (oneway valve)you can get this in Halfords about £3 saves getting her indoors involved.
There are two bleed nipples first on clutch damper block behind drivers side suspension (follow pipe from master cylinder) and one on the slave cylinder (remove intercooler)
Fill reservoir with dot 5, attach bleed pipe to first nipple and loosen half a turn then pump the pedal until clean fluid comes through the pipe without air bubbles then tighten nipple top up reservoir again and repeat with second nipple.
Job done.
It will feel like a new clutch.

Question

got a 'CLICK' every (nearly) time I press the pedal. was wondering if it was just dru 'up top' !?
dont think bleeding would help my case . how easy was dismantling the pedal etc? just a couple of bolts?

cheers

Have located the second bleed nipple under the intercooler, but can't find the first one?

There is just one pipe from the clutch fluid header, this goes off towards the slave cylinder.

Is it the two pipes (with grey plastic sheath)that come through the bulkhead in the same place as the accelerator cable that I am looking for? These run to some gadget by the brake fluid reservoir and then run off down the inside of the wing. Couldn't see a bleed nipple though, is it visible from under the bonnet, or do I need to get under the car?

Maybe yours is not the same!, it's a metal block to the left of the brake master cylinder, the nipple is at the back of the block facing the bulkhead.
If you cant find it you could bleed it all the way through from the slave cylinder.

second nipple should be on the Off-Side susspension turret. loads of brake pipe looking pipes wiggling all over the shop around there. but if you trace it, they go to the slave cylinder on the g/box.

those sheathed pipes going through the bulkhead will be the brake lines, not clutch ones!

cheers

Popped in to the friendly local dealership, my car only has one nipple! They also suggested unbolting the slave cylinder and angling it so that any air can bleed out. So armed with all this I will try again this weekend. Thanks for the advice chaps.

Angle it so all the air can bleed out?
Do you mean whilst bleeding, so the nipple is pointing up?

Mmm, my car is a UK96, only one pipe comes out of the clutch master cylinder, it heads off down towards the slave cylinder, no pipes head towards the drivers side turret!. What year are your cars? I am assuming they are rhd?
