Boost Solenoid Cleaning Question
#1
I want to clean my boost solenoid.
Can I just pull off the top 'brass pipe' , squirt in brake cleaner, put pipe back on and take it up the road, or do I need to do all of the pipes?
If the later, how does one remove the clips (without braking)?
I want to do this as I am experiencing lower than normal boost and I'm pretty sure it's the solenoid clogged up.

Join green under dash connectors and trun on ignition - the car will go into 'mad cow mode', cycling operation of all underbonnet electronics (watch out for the fans ) in turn.
This conveniently pulses the boost solenoid at regular intervals, so you can remove it, turn it upside down and squirt cleaner in. Make sure you thoroughly clean the pipes too.

Sheepsplitter (interesting name0, the clips should not be difficult to remove. They should just come off by squeezing them together with a pair of pliers. I generally remove all the pipes and give them a good squirt through with brake cleaner as well just to make sure that they are clean.
The solenoid itself can be removed just two nuts on the >96 model and squirted through with brake cleaner - shake and allow fluid to evaporate. Then re-assemble!
I think that squirting fluid in and then running may result in expensive bangs - see Col's note.
Worked a treat on mine especially if no matter how much you tell them not to the apprentice doing the oil change overfills with oil!!!
