After replacing my turbo with a TD05 the scooby seems to be overboosting most of the time. I have tried adjusting the actuator which bring down the boost but increases spool up time. The TD05 is comming in at 3500-4000 rpm now. Can I have a faulty actuator ?

The turbo seems fine no play, and spins up freely. My current downpipe has two 5mm holes near the bend to the system. When the boost comes in it will spike if a press on the accelerator hard, but if I gradually floor it is okay and the boost settles down about 0.9-1.0 bar. When it spikes I get fuel-cut and hesistation.

Any ideas people ? John Banks, Pavblo ?

What year/model is your car, what turbo did it have OEM, and what boost control/ECU are you using?

You need to use a boost controller. Get a Dawes and a knocklink.

so the actuator is okay then ? would this contribute to slow spool up times as well ?

Well I wouldn't expect a bigger turbo to behave correctly with the standard ECU boost control. It will spool up later and possibly overboost. Fit a Dawes, EBC or remap the ECU, but with a bigger turbo you should really be monitoring knock. Also consider/measure injector duty cycle!

I agree with John. How would you have the right fuelling if you change the turbo altogether but not the ECU? I would assume the standard internals of that good old (Legacy, isnt it?) engine are ok, but you may well lack fuel. What are the inj sizes on that engine? Same as the later model engines?
