Question

.......when the pump is starved of fuel on corners as it surges to the side of the tank (mine hesitates coming out of right handers sometimes)if so what risk to engine if i keep it nailed out the corner?

That sounds like it. At its most extreme you'll think you hit a brick wall cause you'll be at full boost pinned in your seat and then ...WHAP.... you have no power and severe engine braking. My car tends to get is severly or not at all

Yes
You are right.
Fuel surge can happen. It is a bit of a fault
When you have 1/4 of a tank or under and when you are throwing it around bends fuel surge can occur. So always keep the tank fairly full for those B roads, which is difficult in our thirsty beasts.
Cue Saxo Boy. Only joking mate!

Best wishes

I beat you to it, I go to this thread first

For those that don't know I'm somewhat infamous for having had a spin and partially blaming fuel surge. Usually you'll have left the corner before the system gets to the 'dry patch' which is why I usually get fuel surge in a straight just after a roundabout. I got it once on the grip limit on a long, full throttle, sweeping right-hander and spun the car. Bit of a bummer

Try to avoid it, it can't be good for the engine

If you are ever down south. It would be good to meet you.
I think you contribute alot to the the board. So respect fuel surge king.
I know what you mean..when you have a bad off it wakes you up. Mine was in 96 and I still have a picture if it in my scoob to make me realise that I was very close to death.
Best wishes m8 and enjoy the scoob

Thumbs up

Cheer steve...I'll let everyone know if I head south over the border

No matter what peeps think of my particuarl fuel surge experience it is a honking flaw in the car. Its ok if you remember and don't push it hard right on low fuel but then you should't have to think about these sorts of things. A swirl pot can solve the problem but why isn't this standard?
