Question

Sorry to be a bit dumb but i have a couple of - well - simple questions about flamer kits.

1. When exactly do they flame? Is it during heavy acceleration, after throttle lift off, during gear change, only when its sunny???

2. When the spare fuel ignites, does this produce back pressure on the tubo (with the explosion), thus slowing it down? OR does it pull more gas/air through, causing the turbo to speed up?

3. If it speeds up turbo, does it act as sort of a poor mans anti-lag kit? And also, does it therefore reduce turbo life span??

4. Can ignition effect/fire spread back up exhaust, affecting thigs such as exhaust temp sensors??

Cheers

right got a load of mates with flamer kits so ill try and explain as much as i know

>>>1. When exactly do they flame? Is it during heavy acceleration, after throttle lift off, during gear change, only when its sunny???

It flames a few seconds after a heavy burst of acceleration, when u ease off it will take a few seconds then belch a flame out.

>>>2. When the spare fuel ignites, does this produce back pressure on the tubo (with the explosion), thus slowing it down? OR does it pull more gas/air through, causing the turbo to speed up?

Its only lighting the fuel about an inch from the tip of the pipe so i wouldnt even consider this

>>>3. If it speeds up turbo, does it act as sort of a poor mans anti-lag kit? And also, does it therefore reduce turbo life span??

again dream on, its got no benefit to your car whatsoever and from my experience with them doesnt do any harm either

>>>4. Can ignition effect/fire spread back up exhaust, affecting thigs such as exhaust temp sensors??

Its a totally seperate spark plug in the exhaust running of a different system so it shouldnt be affected at all. Its lighting the exhaust as it exits, its unlikely to go back up the pipe

When I had a Nissan 200SX (well modded) flames came out of the exhaust every time I accelerated hard with no silly cheating flamer kits. Do it the proper way and wait until your car is powerful enough so that it produces flames anyway!

You still not trying to get it to work? Pretty soon with all your DIY thing, you'll need 2000 cc injectors. Had you got it to work, you wouldn't need that.

Question

Anybody know, just as a quick query, will a spark plug / flamer kit fit into a revolution tail pipe?? I have the oval tail pipe (not round one).
Just another quick querry - just say that instead of going flamer kit, i wanted to get genuine flames, by increased bhp, how high would i have to go, how modified? Would it require a richer fuel re-map? Having said that, i may already have flames.... don't know cause can't see from drivers seat!!!

it doesnt need lots of power, it just needs over fuelling.

Unburned fuel on hot exhaust will ignite causing popping and blue flames.

Flamer kits in my opinion are totally gay and intended for boy racers!

and by the way the fifth injector despite it not working is not meant to produce flames, it is meant to provide more fuel at the top end of the rev range but as andy found out, it doesnt work.

Question

So why did they leave it on then? Homologation reasons?

edited to add:
What flow rate are the RA injectors?

most likely ra injectors are 380cc iirc..

Katana will you please understand one thing...

If you want to get more power out of your car, you are going to have to replace your std injectors... (exluding playing with fuel pressure)

You keep saying that the 5th injector is the dog's bollocks, it isnt. work out how much extra fuel you would get from it then divide by 4??

Not worth bothering with..

Im getting bigger injectors soon, circa 800cc
