Damp in Boot ..

Anybody suffered damp in the boot (MY93 wrx) .... Im getting condesation on boot lid, but also the carpets and stuff are now getting soaked.

Anybody else experienced this, any can shed some light on possible causes.

i have heard that water can get in via the rear light clusters (the sealant goo stuff around them can give up).

Most commonly, it's the seal around the rear light clusters that goes. I think it loses flexibility with age.

It's an easy job to remove them, clean them up, apply new silicone type sealant and re-fit.

You might also find you've got a puddle of water under the spare wheel, which won't help with the condensation. It's probably this condensation dripping off the boot lid which is causing the carpets to get wet etc.

Best advice is to take everything out, re-seal the lights, and before you put everything back in, dust the whole boot area with talc. Then spray with water, and it's easy to track where the leak is coming from. Not only that, it helps rid the boot of that "damp" smell

Once all is dry, put everything back in, and you should be fine.
