Ive got Mobil 1 10/50 in at the momment and as i will be doing an oil change soon I thought I would ask a few local bods on there opinions. First I went to Subaru, they said shell Helix, I said which one, they said 10/40. I then phoned up a good pal whose a Scoob breaker and told him what oil i was running he gasped and said way too thin and to use semi synthetic, he reminded me of his rallying history and cars that hes serviced without problems. I then went to my local Autosave and again theres a man there who Enters into the Snowman Rally and has done for years and he reckoned millers 10/40 semi would be fine.
Each time I spoke to these peeps I mentioned the great oil debate on Scoobnet and how, Motul 300 Comp, Mobil 1 10/50 and Castrol Rs 10/60 are the recommended. I still feel none the wiser, but im wanting an oil that will keep the engine a bit quieter than the it is with Mobil 1.
So if Sub Uk use Shell Helix what Sti/Subaru in Japan use ??

10/40 - 10/50 semi/full synth should be fine..........
however, we recomend either Millers 10/60w or Silkolene 15/50w in fully synth!!!
