Just a quick question, in every service Subaru mechanic changes my oil filter and always uses original part.
Today as they didn’t stock filters I went to Subaru spare department where the guy asked me which filter I use in my car the small or the large one (!!!).
My question is as follows, are there two different filters for my car or the mechanic uses wrong filter from say 1.6 Impreza?
If you know please tell me the correct part number, my car is MY00 old shape Impreza.

normal filter is:

15208AA024.

the option of "smaller" filters were only for turbo's, where depth was limited due to the addition of oil cooler sandwich plate

Thanks guys this is the filter I always use in my car and "Subaru Fast" shows as correct part number, and yes the new Foresters use a smaller one like the olds Justy!

Question

I went to get a couple of filters for my STI7 and was told they are all the same for all models!. The box had 'legacy' on it I think will check!

Does this sound right? I havn't swapped one as yet so cannot compare!

Yes you are correct. My last oil filter said Legacy on it as well. Loads of jap writing too.

You're cheaper going to Unipart/Brown Brothers as they supply Blueprint filters (who are Japanese and owned by Fuji Heavy Industries). This is identical to Subaru filter except has Blueprint stamped on it. This info was passed to me by a few mechanics. Also, in Japan, Blueprint equipment comes highly rated and offered at a lower price too.

For the record, it was a Blueprint timing belt, fuel filter & oil filter that was fitted when I first got my Import from Japan.

Just for info

In my experience all Impreza oil filters are similar if not identical

I normally use the guenuine 15208AA060 filter
(although once had to use a Halfords one, and it was fine also)
I have recently bought some from Midland Impreza
and these were 15208AA024

These are vitually identical, but strangely the 024 is approx 7mm shorter than the 060
Or is in the 'oem?' version I now have

(NB The last 3 digits is the equiv of a revision level or minor production change)

My part supplier supplied a Cooper Oil filter for another customer and the valve inside stuck closed and caused engine damage.. might be a one off but who knows....
ADL supply Blueprint stuff and are highly reccomended!!

"blueprint" is all japanese sourced O.E. parts, very high quality and quite often "amazingly similiar" to the dealer parts - this may tell a little story (ALLEGEDLEY), e.g. subaru genuine filter and blueprint filter could not be told apart - only diff. is colour and price!!
very reduced cost compared to dealer price (ring for deals.....)
alyn - as performance
