Hi all,
Picking up my new beauty tommorrow, and have a question re best performance.
Its an STI 5 Type RA V-Ltd, which has since birth ('99) had one lady owner who I think is fairly 'middle aged'
Now, Im assuming that she wont have known about the whole Jap fuel 100 RON thing, and has probably been using ordinary UL.
When I get it, I obviously want to get the best performance out of it, and look after the engine the best I can.
So, what I was planning was, to run the tank nearly dry, then to fill 'er up with SUL, a bottle of Millers OB and unhook the battery overnight to reset the ECU.
Is this a good idea?
Will this method reset the ECU to see it has the higher RON mixture in its tank?
Are there any pitfalls to look out for, like the car not going/starting at all after the reset?!!
All ideas, comments greatly appreciated...
Cheers

Ok, thanks Steve.
Just wanted to check really that the car is not going to be rendered undriveable, or 'broken' in any way, by doing this.
I suppose the ECU would eventually 'learn' about the higher RON of the fuel and OB buy itself? but would doing the reset be a better option?
I'll take a look at that site now...
Cheers for the reply

Hmmm...it has been regularly serviced every 6 months by the same garage, who apparently know their Scoobs, so they surely would have noticed if anything was wrong?
Dont think I'll bother with the ECU reset actually as its quite responsive enough thanks!
Very hard to drive at speed so far (cant change gear quick enough!!)
Will take some getting used to methinks!
Very chuffed though I must admit, feels much quicker than my 94 WRX, and as soon as the rain and murk disappears I'll take some pics and post em up...
Cheers all,
