Just went trundling out to set the gap on my plugs to 0.7 (As suggested if they're 1.1mm) and I cannot for the life of me suss out any EASY way to get them out!
So I thought before I start launching tools across the garage, I'd come on here and see if any of u know THE way??
It's an MY93 WRX.
Cheers,
Jon

Hi,
Mine is uk my99 so dont think there should be much difference.I had to undo the washer bottle and hold it out of the way and also the air con pipes were slightly in the way,i could then get a plug socket with a small ext bar on and stert undoing. The only snag is that when you start undoing them and can move the ext bar by hand then pull the ratchet off and do it by hand otherwise you will get the ratchet jammed in against the chassis rail and nothing will come out.
The other side you will have to undo the iirbox and this side is easier to get to but you may have to do the same with the ext bar.
It
took about 3/401hr to do the lot and put all the junk back on.
Hope this helps, stay cool when the ratchet gets stuck and it will get easier after the first one.

Talking

Just remove the battery, washer bottle and air box/induction kit, get a 3" extension and thats it, took me about 45mins to do all 4, thats removing the HKS induction kit and washer bottle, I've got a thinner battery then most scoobs so i didn't have to take it out, could just work round it. When you've done them you'll think whats all the fuss about, check your coils as well for and perished rubbers or cracks etc.
Good luck m8

Got all that done, BUT....

How do I get the actual Spark Pulgs out??
I poked my finger in the hole, and to me it feels like a 10mm bolt head! :\
Can anyone help with THIS part?? :\
And cheers you two for the above help! It made it easy! Just the plugs have got me baffled!
Cheers, Jon.
Ps. It has new-ish coil packs.

Hmmm...Ok, is that it??
Once the coil packs are out the way, slip the plug spanner on and undo the plug??
No weird bits? I'm sure I felt a 10mm bolt head or something.

Ive got My93 wrx

like the others have said....remove the airbox and MAF unit , on the other side remove the battery and the washer bottle.

I think the spanner is around 13/ 14 mm to get the coli pack off, but dont take the bolt out all the way. Once its undonetry and pull the coil pack, i was told to do this so as not to bend the rubber bit on the way out .and when it feels free then undo the bolt.

Once its out, put you fingers in the hole, you'll feel the top of the plug ...put your plug spanner in first, then the extension ...found that helps, and after that a bit of careful force to undo it

I can get them all out and changed in less than an hour ... and do it when its cold/cool..

OOO its just like being a scoobynet Virgin all over again (1st Post, again!)

Whilst your down there fiddling with the plugs, have a good check of the end of the Coil Pack, each one has a rubber grommit on the end. When your pulling the plug out sometimes if your lucky the grommit will stay on the coil pack when you remove it, like me it will probably stick to the head of the plug. Try not to tear it when your removing it and the plug. It will make loads more sense when youve done your first one. If the Rubber is perished/split/missing completely then it wont be long b4 your down there again replacing the coil packs. So word of warning be careful when removing the coil packs/Rubbers.
