Type RA owners....have you undersealed your car
#1
Its definately a pit/ramp job, well maybe not but if you want to make life easy on yourself. Make sure the car isnt wet/damp underneath and using a hard brush remove anything loose, paint/rust/dirst and brush/spray away. It can take days, especialy at this time of year for it to dry so once its on dont bother checking it. Its really messy stuff.

Just wondering how the coming winter roads with all the salt and cack they put on the roads is going to fair on my non undersealed car....it is recommended to get the car done, and how much/who does it?

Do it mate. I don't know where does it but to be honest jobs like that i prefer to do myself because at least you know it has been done properly. My RA was already done when I got it but i plan to re do it to be sure.Probably be a pain in the **** to do though!!

Hi John
No Jap imports have had this done, its only a UK (poss European) thing due to our weather However, my MY99 UK was not done by the previous owner and the response I got from the supplying dealer was that the Subaru bodywork was very good, and that as the Jap imports had never had it done, how many of them do you see rotting away? I don't know of any, some are 10 years old now too Not worth it IMHO.

Also for undersealing you have got to make sure there is no rust there to start with or it can just rot away under it without you knowing...

The only problem with underseal is if it starts to come away water can get underneath and it actaully makes the problem worse. If your goin' to do it make sure it's done properly. Personlly i haven't bothered.... Jap import new to the uk when i got it 3 years ago and not a sign of anything nasty underneath. Im living in the raining city too!!!

my garage is on anglesey and its rather wet and salty .
we've found that the customers who have had their cars sprayed with old oil last better than those that have put aftermarket underseal on as it penetrates. the old oil also seems to work better than new clean oil as the impurities give it some cling
not that we'd ever do anything as enviromentally poor as spraying old engine oil which could drop on the road till its dried up, but they seem to get it done somewhere

WELL WORTH GETING DONE, MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RUBERIZED SPRAY ON GEAR.....3M`S IS PROBABLY THE BEST, THE FINISH IS REALY GOOD, I AM GOING TO GET MINE DONE BUT NOT UNTIL THE DRY WEATHER GETS HERE,AS THE SURFACES MUST BE CLEAN AND DRY, ITS WELL WORTH GETTING THE ARCHES AND FLOORPAN PRESURE WASHED BEFORE YOU GET IT DONE.
