I use Castrol magnatec 10w/40 semi synthetic in my 95 WRX cause I get it for £13.40 (4.5ltr) through my work.

Try Millers Synthetic.
Or, use Magnatec 10w40.
In independant tests at MIRA, Magnatec came out better than MOBIL 1 in most aspects.
If you change your oil at 5k or less intervals, there is no need for the additional expense of Mobil 1/ Castrol RS, etc

this one always carries some debate.

I personally run magnatec on the road as 95% of my journeys are under 10minutes and I doubt very much that a motorsport type oil would be upto temperature for the first 15 to 20min.

I would not go anywhere near a track with magnatec.I have run mobil motorsport on track but the general feeling is that motul is the best so will be changing to it next time.

the "weight" determines the temp not use, most modern semi/full synths 'should' in theory be fine as long as their in the correct weight we normally recomend 15w50 for road use and 10w60 for competition, change every 5K with O.E. style filter and no worries (pers. pref is for SILKOLENE or MILLERS OILS products / deals available to scoobynet)
alyn - as performance

p.s. IMO "magn**ec" is rather dubious and allegedley has detrimental long term effects..........

Mobil 1 15/50
Motul 15/50
Castrol RS 10/60

Any of these will be ok...

Silkolene Pro S 10W50 or Motul race stuff. Either way it costs about £35 usually.
