I have bought a 2000 model impreza Sti (W reg), the question is, how can i tell if it is a V4 or V5 ? It has or seems to have all V5 bodykit on it.

What's the model code from the plate in the engine bay on the right hand side say? GC8 something...
Check www.sidc.co.uk for model code listings.

Has it got the dump valve bolted on the intercooler?, V5's did V4's didn't.

Mines a ver 4 and the dump valve is mounted on the intercooler ?

The dump valve is bolted to the intercooler, the model code is GC8 F4ED which says Sti 4 4door...but i think this is a typing error because that model is listed above in the 97-98 model list under GC8 E4ED.

Is mine a version 5 then ?

I didn't think STi4's had the DV bolted on the Intercooler...
You sure your V4 has a standard Intercooler Graham?

always thought you could tell from the holes under the indicators? one = sti5, two = older! (unless the bumpers been changed)

Where is the coilpack mounted, on a 4, its on the middle of the inlet, on the 5 its on the n/s of the inlet. A version 4 should have a dump valve on a pipe, not mounted on the intercooler, it must have been changed??

GC8E2DD so mines a ver 4 and the coil pack is in the centre but DV is def on the intercooler.
