My new pride and joy (and I do mean that, picked up the WRX last Saturday and I've not stopped smiling since) is booked in for its regulation oil change etc next Friday and I believe from some of the threads on the site that there may be a choice on what oil is put into it.
Is this the case or does it depend on what the delaer sources?
If I do have a choice have people got any recommendations as to what I should put it. I'll mainly be doing motorway driving (but I'll be looking for an A and B road route more often now!) will that impact oil choice?
Thanks - its good to be in the Scooby community at last with a Scooby (looking forward to waving at my first fellow Scooby owner).

Greetings !
Dealers will put in semi-synth (usually 10-40) unless you tell them otherwise (and usually supply what you want).
For the first change most recommend sticking with the semi synth as it aids the running in process.
I just had my first 1K service 3 weeks back and supplied them with Shell Semi-synth 10-40, but will do a change when I get to 5K with some more. I'll then swap to FSynth at 10K.
Others have different views - just my 2p worth.
My old scoob (MY99) had semi-synth for 2 years before switching to fully synth (I didnt know they only used semi synth) and it ran fine - no problems.
Enjoy.

Thanks, I was wondering if it is so important to go for the very fancy fully synthetic oils when the oil is changed every 10,000 miles at least.
