have a K & N at the moment but am aware that it can be crap (due to the oil getting onto the MAF, etc). Was thinking of going for an HKS or something.
Whats everyones opinion ?

Hi Paul
I wouldn't go for an HKS if you intend to keep the MAF. If you really want an induction kit and need to keep the MAF, I'd stick with the K&N (I presume you have the induction kit as opposed to a panel filter ?) Just get the largest you can fit
If the car is a UK spec, not worries. If it's an import don't forget to get the fueling checked.

I think that there is a misconception of fueling in imports. If you talk to a lot of mappers who have seen the standard map of a scoob whether its a uk car or JDM, they will confirm that their are hardly any differences. The only differences between car on this front is the Knock sensetivity. As JDM cars run on 100RON ,knock sensetivty does not have to be as high as uk models.

I'm a big fan of K&N filters generally (used them for years on Autograss cars and they by far stop the most dirt and minimise wear) so would recommend you stick with them - don't all aftermarket performance-type filters need to be oiled so could all give the problem you talk off (I would have thought that not over-oiling would prevent/minimise this anyway).
